The SEAMEO Regional Centre for History and Tradition has held the Prize Awarding Ceremony on the Project: "Sowing Seeds of Peace in the Mekong River Basin" organized by the Regional Unit for Social and Human Sciences in Asia and Pacific (RUSHSAP), UNESCO, Bangkok; Assumption University, Thailand and Ruamrudee International School (RIS) Bangkok.
The Project aims to stimulate and reinforce the spirit of peaceful living among the youth in six countries in the Mekong River Basin; Cambodia, China, Lao PDR, Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam.
The Prize Awarding Ceremony took place at SEAMEO CHAT on 17 May 2005 at which the prizes were awarded to the winners of essay, poem, drawing and song writing. The winners are from the universities in Yangon.
The Deputy Minister of Education attended the Ceremony. Directors General from Ministry of Education, Rectors, Professors and teachers from universities in Yangon, judges of the Competition, and students are also present at the Ceremony.
The prizes were awarded by H.E. U Myo Nyunt, Deputy Minister; Dr. Sarinya Sophia, UNESCO; Rev. Fr. Aisit Kritsaralam, Director, Ruamrudee International School, Bangkok; and Mr. Charn Mayot, Director, St. Martin Center for Professional Ethics & Service Learning, Student Affairs, Assumption University.
