Visit by the SEAMEO Council President 18th February, 2013

SEAMEO CHAT was delighted to greet and welcome H.E. Pehin Abu Bakar Apong, Minister for Education, Brunei Darussalam and President of the SEAMEO Council who paid a visit to the Centre on 18th February, 2013. The Council President and delegates were given the power point presentation on the activities of SEAMEO CHAT by U Myo Aung, Director of SEAMEO CHAT. Following the presentation, the statement was given by the Council President who encouraged the Centre to keep on working hard. The Council President presented books for the students from Basic Education Middle School No. (3) Insein, which is the adopted school of SEAMEO CHAT under Community Involvement Programme. The President signed in the visitors’ book and then had a look around the Centre. Lunch was given to the Council President and delegates at the Centre. They left for the Department of Higher Education where the Council President gave a courtesy call on H E Dr. Mya Aye, Union Minister for Education, Myanmar. They also visited Yangon University, Yangon University of Foreign languages, and Shwedagon Pagoda. In the evening, the dinner was hosted by H.E Dr. Mya Aye, Union Minister for Education, Myanmar at Sedona Hotel. On his visit to Myanmar from 17th to 19th February, the Council President was accompanied by Datin Hajah Jahrah binti Haji Mohamad, Dr. Witaya Jerachakul, Director of SEAMEO Secretariat, Dr. Junaidi Abd Rahman, Permanent Secretary, Mr. Haji Abd Rahman Haji Nawi, Acting Director of Curriculum Development, Mrs Zarinah Salleh, International Affairs Officer, Mrs. Marina Chek Bujang, principal, DPMAMB College, Mr. Pg Shaiffadzillah Omarali and HE Pehin dato Rahmani dato Basir, Ambassador from the Embassy of Brunei Darussalam. H.E. Pehin Abu Bakar Apong, Minister for Education, Brunei Darussalam and President of the SEAMEO Council and delegates left Yangon on 19th February.
